John Howells is a Devon born photographer with a keen eye for wildlife, landscapes and their intimate details. After studying for a BSc and MSc in Biology at Exeter University John went into wildlife conservation before following the path of Photography, Art and Teaching.
In addition to teaching a number of successful art classes, John also passes on his knowledge via photographic workshops in which he explores local countryside features. With a huge catalogue of beautiful images he aims to teach and inspire others with his passion for all things natural. John has also colaborated on two books with a local poet which celebrate the changing of seasons and the magic within a location.
John is inspired by ephemeral art and takes pride in taking fantastic un-edited pictures of fleeting moments. Often seen wearing his signature feathered hat, John is a prominent figure around the arts circuits in Devon, with regular stands at craft fairs around the county. His stalls boast a wide array of images available in various sizes, mounted and / or framed, all signed and named individually.
John’s artistic talents also extend to pet portraiture and he has painted many a furry family member bringing joy and happy memories. John’s commissions do not stop there. He has painted fantastical occasions, often pre-raphaelite inspired, and he is fequently to be seen scetching the landscape and its wildlife.
