Chagford Conservation Group help at the Gardens

Chagford Conservation Group was at Stone Lane Gardens today to help gardens manager Paul Bartlett with some very necessary thistle pulling in the new plantation. Since the contract ended with a local farmer to graze sheep in the field now known as Kenneth’s Meadow, thistles have taken over in a newly planted area which will eventually become part of the visitor trail. Despite the heat in today’s sunny conditions 11 members of the Group, which volunteers at the gardens regularly, stoically pulled up what machinery just can’t reach. “I was impressed by what the CCG managed to achieve and we are always very grateful for their help,” commented Paul.
