Stone Lane Gardens Sculpture Exhibition will open to the public on 1 June 2023.

The theme this year is ‘Sense of Place’ which reflects upon the relationship between sculpture and the lived experience of place. With its Dartmoor backdrop, the exhibition presents a dialogue between artist and the natural world, site and memory, longing and belonging, human histories and contested territories.

Sponsored by Caradon Granite, the generous Ashburner Prize of £1000, named in memory of Kenneth and June Ashburner, founders of the Gardens, will be awarded for the sculpture that best represents this year’s theme.

Our selectors for 2023 are: Neil Musson – a renowned international artist who transforms the way in which people experience their immediate surrounding. Professor Paul Fieldsend-Danks – Vice Chancellor and chief executive of Arts University Plymouth, Professor of Fine Art. David Savage – Stone Lane Gardens Trustee.

We are grateful to Jackson Stops for their sponsorship of the private viewing.
