Trustee roles at Stone Lane Gardens in 2022
Stone Lane Gardens would not exist, in the way it does, without our volunteers and in particular the direction and input of our Trustees.
We are presently seeking a volunteer trustee to join our friendly group to help conserve and direct this unique charity.
Trustee volunteer roles arise on a rolling basis at Stone Lane Gardens as each Trustee serves a limited term, with a maximum of 6 years.
Specialisms arising include HR, people management (looking after our staff, volunteers, Friends and visitors) property management (looking after a grade 2* listed farm house and traditional farm buildings) and charity administration (keeping things organised and running smoothly). We also invite interest from those with an interest and experience in the arts and education in relation to the annual sculpture exhibition.
As this is a small charity, we are seeking local ‘hands-on’ trustees.
You may be new to this role or bring significant experience from another organisation or charity. Either way, we know this commitment will require serious consideration and we aim to make that exploration as enjoyable as possible.
To help inform your decision, we offer an introduction session (with lunch or cake!) spread over 1 or 2 half days, to suit your diary. The time is spent alongside volunteers (with a trustee as guide) in the garden, tearoom and office. This is an opportunity to explore how the charity works ‘behind the scenes’ without any pressure or early commitment.
We are currently looking for someone with management and human resources skills who can help to support the welfare of our staff, volunteers, Friends and visitors. Other specialisms are equally welcome.
Trustee meetings are held 4-6 times per year, some on site and some on-line. Decisions between meetings are made by email.
If this appeals, and you are looking for an interesting new challenge, we look forward to exploring this opportunity with you at Stone Lane Gardens.
Please get in touch with confidence. This charity strives to create and sustain a culture of fairness and inclusion in all area and roles.
