Exciting new vacancy
We are seeking an enthusiastic, outdoor-loving person to join our organisation as a trainee assistant gardener. You will need to be hard-working, reliable, adaptable and able to get along with visitors and staff.
Stone Lane Gardens is a local charity in the process of expanding its operations. With new areas of planting, a renewed focus on improving the biodiversity of our estate, better facilities for our visitors and an increase in artistic events, this is an exciting time to get involved in our organisation.
Stone Lane Gardens is a woodland and water garden that is open to the public all year round. We also run a small nursery, specialising in Birch and Alder propagated from our National Collections.
As a trainee gardener, you will be trained and directed by our Garden Manager, working alongside part-time staff and our loyal band of volunteers. The tasks vary depending on the season, but you will need to be reasonably fit as this is a physically active role. Though it would be an advantage to have some horticultural knowledge, ‘on the job’ training will be given and we will encourage you to gain a qualification through distance or evening learning.
Salary: up to £10 per hour, depending on age and experience. Up to 30 hours per week.
If you are interested, please apply by email to firstname.lastname@example.org for the attention of Paul Bartlett, Garden Manager.
