A Japanese shrub birch that is listed as “Endangered” and confined in the wild to very small areas.

There are several ex-situ collections in botanic gardens (including Stone Lane Gardens) as a precaution against extinction.

By buying and planting this tree you are helping to preserve the species.

A slow growing, multi-stemmed shrub with very attractive, small and densely veined leaves, neat upright fruits and a spring catkin display. Autumn colour is a rich yellow.

Eventual height: 4-6 metres, multi-stemmed spreading habit.
