Fired stoneware clay with manganese oxide wash
It is threaded together and connected to itself as a whole. It is of the earth and the piece is placed on the garden’s earth, connecting to nature and encircling a tree – connecting to the Arboretum. The haptic process of handling and forming the clay is a connection. The circle is a universal symbol with extensive meaning and human connection. There is a nod here also to stone circles and what they may represent.
