27: Coppiced
‘Coppiced’ is representative of man’s attempt to shape nature to its ‘in the box’ thinking. Using contrasting properties of mild steel and stainless steel, the work itself bridges my more formal abstract works and recent work focusing on organic shapes.

Heavily inspired by natural processes, my work is intended to offer a moment of quiet contemplation of humanity’s relationship with nature.
I hold a BA (Hons) Degree in Sculpture and I have spent over ten years working professionally with metal.
Several years ago, I began practicing the art form of Bonsai, which has given me a deep love and appreciation of trees and the way they grow. I have embraced this fascination into my recent work.
