A Midsummer Nights Dream – a dream!
The Three Inch Fools travelling theatre company was matchless again this year with another startling spectacular under the stars as they presented A Midsummer Nights Dream.
Shakespeare, but not quite as we know it, was expertly manoeuvred into a new position on the theatrical landscape, with strange encounters formed by unrequited love and quick-change identities shaped by magical mischief making. The occasional musical instrument and garrulous song then tipped the imagination into a world of hilarious unfeasible possibilities.
The audience of nearly 300 clapped and cheered the actors’ amazing range of talents and headed for home after a thoroughly good night out, dreaming of what outdoor Shakespeare play at Stone Lane Gardens may be encountered next year among the wild thyme and oxlips, and, with the moon like to a silver bow, of course.
