About Dot
I am an artist and designer working in metal, to make lighting and sculpture.
I graduated with a BA(Hons) in Fine Art (Painting) from Newcastle Polytechnic , studied creative metalwork at Bridgwater College and followed a passion to learn the elemental craft of Blacksmithing. I was fortunate to develop my skills, both traditional and contemporary, working nationally and internationally. I decided to explore my interest in design, gaining an MA in Industrial Design at Sheffield Hallam University in 2012. It was during this time that I became fascinated with light as a medium and sought to combine this with my metalwork skills to develop bespoke lighting products. I have created artistic installation with light and have since evolved my work with metal to create sculpture as public artworks and for garden exhibitions around the UK.
Through my practice, I aim to communicate themes inspired by our place in this natural world. I observe texture, pattern and colour to understand our relationship with the sensory presence of life force and our relationship to it.
